Can Xander Schauffele Finally Break Through at Augusta?
T2 in 2019. T3 in 2021. T10 in 2023. Xander Schauffele has been one of the most consistent players at the Masters. Even at majors outside of Augusta, Schauffele is routinely at the top of the leaderboards. He has six Top 10 finishes at the US Open and four Top 20 finishes at the Open Championship. Yet, Schauffele has never won a major. Will this be the year Xander Schauffele captures his first green jacket?

Xander Schauffele has been blistering hot to start the year. He’s already won twice in 2024, and has six Top 10 finishes. He’s as consistent as they come. Schauffele won’t blow you away with a crazy par save or 50 footer for eagle. That’s because he plays the same hole time and time again. Fairway, green, two putt. Rinse and repeat.
Looking at his stats, Schauffele is in similar form to when he tied for second in 2019. With a course like Augusta, it’s critical he stays out of trouble on the tee to set up his approach shots. His approach game has been one of his best features. Schauffele’s ability to stay in the fairway with shots into the green has to be on point if he wants a shot at capturing his first major.
So can Xander win this week? I think so. He’s as consistent as they come, and it just seems inevitable that a breakthrough is coming. It is ridiculously hard to be at the top of a major leaderboard, and even harder to do it year after year. At some point Xander Schauffele is going to win his first major, and there’s no better time than the present. If you follow us on Twitter, you would know that I have Xander Schauffele to make the Top 10 at +140.
