Tour Championship Preview

The PGA Tour season concludes this week at East Lake Golf Club for the tour championship this weekend. The Tour Championship being the final tournament of the 3 playoff tournaments played the past few weeks with the FedEx St. Jude and the BMW Championship. Viktor Hovland is coming off of a fiery back 9 of 28 that won him the BMW championship.
This tournament format where players are rewarded for how they played throughout the season by allotting strokes to certain players. For example, Scottie Scheffler is starting the week at 10 under due to his first place finish in the FedEx Cup standings. Scottie is the strong favorite to win this week due to the format. Hovland starting at 8 under and Jon Rahm starting at 6 under are also very probable picks.
East Lake has been hosting the Tour Championship since 1998. It has given light to some of the most historic rounds in history like Tiger Woods’ infamous 27 on the front 9. Rory McIlory is the defending champ this year, but he’ll be starting 3 back of the leader. Overall I believe Scottie is going to win however his odds of +130 to win are simply too high to be worth it. I think Hovland at +500 while only being 2 strokes behind Scottie is very appealing to me. My pick to win is Scottie however, if I was a gambling man I would take Hovland.
